This is what I’ll be confronted with in three weeks (omg, 3 weeks!). Being born and raised in southern California, this is all very foreign to me. It looks cold, but it sure looks beautiful.

Felix Gonzalez-Torres
Untitled (Golden), 1995
Gonzalez-Torres quickly has become a favorite of mine. I find his work incredible, personal, honest, and touching. I could only hope that my work could do similar things.
“Gonzalez-Torres “made subtle references to his own life and set these autobiographical records in public spaces to challenge the boundary between private and public. He set private memories and nostalgic journeys into the public sphere, hoping to help viewers transcend the personal to arrive at a collective experience about the social good and the human spirit.”
It’s looking like I might get an internship at Performa in NYC.
I spent 12 hours printing this toile today. I made 5 1/2 yards of it. This is part one of a very special project.

Skin as drawing surface. Reminds me of the following picture…
john used to say “I love you” every day.
I didn’t understand then how lucky I was.
