Made my Mom a birthday cake this year.  I combined a couple recipes and modified them, and ended up with a rosemary olive oil cake with fresh berries and cream cheese frosting. Yum!

This place is a gem.  It’s called the Old Town Music Hall and it’s in the town I grew up in.  I’ve gone there a few times now, but it took me about 27 years to finally check it out!  It originally opened up in 1921 and they still play silent movies here.  You gotta go!

Top to bottom:

-Watts Towers

-Recycled glass and other items were used to make the towers.

-Those imprints you see were made with baskets.

-Simon Rodia’s initials and the imprints of the simple tools he used to build the towers.

-B was in town from Brooklyn and Watts Towers was on his LA checklist.  Mine too!

My father pretty much reigns the backyard.  He’s out there most of the day, plants all kinds of things, arranges how he likes, and collects random objects that he hides throughout the garden.  It’s crazy out there.

Finally went through the messy stack of papers I’ve had sitting on the floor for ages.  Only keeping the left pile.
